Composite fillings
Most people have fillings of one sort or another. Previously, these were usually silver in colour and made from metal amalgam – though a more aesthetic option is now widely available in the shape of white, composite fillings.
These are made from a composite resin that is a tooth-coloured, plastic mixture filled with glass (silicon dioxide). Originally only used for front teeth because of their softer nature, modern improvements to their composition mean that they can be used more generally today.
